Planning and modelling

Network studies and simulations for secure operations

NSE offers you a wide range of simple network calculations, right down to extensive simulations close to the physical limits. We create and maintain a digital network model for you using the simulation program DIgSILENT Power Factory. This digital model will enable us to locate vulnerabilities in your distribution network and economically plan network extensions or evaluate the connection of new generation and consumer installations.

On the basis of this study we then design a uniform protection concept for your network.

If you wish we will work out new lists of protection settings for all the stations in your network. Our experts can also parameterise and test the protective equipment at your site and provide you with long-term support.

The documentation we offer, which covers the network study, protection concept and coordination, parameterisation, setting up and testing of your protective equipment, will enable you to guarantee your network's long-term operational safety.

Our services for you:
  • Existing resource databases are continually updated with experienced manufacturers
  • We are the official representative of DIgSILENT Power Factory in Switzerland
  • Many years' experience in the field of power engineering
  • Trustworthy storage of your network data with facilities for online access to DigSILENT Online
  • Medium-voltage protection equipment and services plus plant engineering and renovation from a single source
  • We take customer care very seriously
Your benefits at a glance
Load flow calculation:
  • Optimum switch states for minimum network losses
  • Highly reliable network both in normal operation and in fault situations
  • Simple planning of network modifications
Two-pole short-circuit calculation:
  • Values for the minimum 2-pole fault current on all busbars
  • Optimal protection settings for the lower fault current thresholds
Three-pole short-circuit calculation:
  • Values for the maximum 3-pole fault current on all busbars
  • Checking the thermal and mechanical stability of your installations and protective equipment
  • Checking the permissible cable turn-off times
  • The calculation is carried out statistically as per the IEC, ANSI or VDE standard
  • If you wish we can carry out a complete calculation with due consideration of the load flow
Fault current calculation:
  • Calculation of the capacitive earth fault current
  • Basis for a functioning fault current protection concept
  • Monitoring the maximum permitted pace voltage in your network
